Hey! What is your favorite shampoo? Also, what are some of your favorite products that contain silicones? These past couple years, I've seen some really interesting products and many of you have also asked me to try out certain products. Some of the products have 'cones in them... which I've steered away from for like 2 years lol!!! I currently don't shampoo my hair and haven't had any issues co- washing and clarifying monthly. If I use products with silicones, I would have to use a stronger cleanser...
I've been consistent on my journey thus far and I feel as though I've become very familiar with my hair over the years. Sometimes curiosity comes and I wonder how my hair would respond to different products at this point. (Hopefully better than before lol!) Anyways, I may branch out and try new things soon, while keeping in mind that I can always go back to what I know, if it's a fail lol! (My hair definitely won't hesitate to let me know if something's a "NO!") :)

I am at 3.5 year s n hatural. I went through a period last summer where I thought I was going to go back to back relaxer. I was fed up with shrinkage and unpredictability, as well as product trial and error. Even though my hair was/is the healthiest it has been in probably 20 years, before I came to Texas And had a Dominican hairdresser who seemed to really understand my 4c, thin hair debacles. So I got braids for a six weeks, intending to relax when I took them out. I could not schedule an appointment to fit my schedule, so took out braids myself and washed conditioned and did a medium setting blow out. Instead of my natural products, I used my mom's staple when I was a kid: Dax. I lightly applied throughout, waiting for I don't know what??? Then, I put my hair in a Marley bun for a week. It was great. It wasn't tight and unmanageable because I didn't need any gel to tame the curly kinks...The next week I tried out some more protective styles on my hair and my hair did shrink a little but not too much. Every 2-3 days I applied a little Dax original or Dax with lanolin, which kept it soft and pliable. I changed my regimen to wash every two weeks, deep conditioning, blowing out gently, and using Dax. When I wash I use a clarifying shampoo...rinse then do a second wash with Shea Moisture Raw Shea Butter Shampoo. Deep conditioner is next...I follow with coconut oil and leave-in. I have been experimenting with all types of conditioners with "taboo" ingredients like silicones and maybe mineral oil if it isn't listed in the first few ingredients. Three months into this routine and so far my hair is still looking healthy. My only complaint is my ends start curling up because, I don't blow dry with high heat or use a flat iron. At this point I am having fun with all types of products, not just the all natural ones. During my Thanksgiving vacay, I will be experimenting with blown out twist outs.

Please excuse the grammar errors. I am using my phone and riding in the back seat. I couldn't locate the edit feature either.
