So last night I decided to cowash my hair and do a little experiment with my regimen. I wanted to see my shrinkage. It's been quite some time since I allowed that to happen and I was curious. On the other hand I was also not looking forward to the dry and dull appearance my hair tends to take on when I allow it to fully shrink. So this time I decided to do something different. I decided to only use my EVOO and my avocado butter in my hair after cowashing. NO gel and NO leave in conditioner! I just used more avocado butter than I usually do. (That stuff is serious ladies! ) I know it sounds crazy but I wanted to see what would happen if I only used oil based products and not water based. Would my hair shrink any less? I was hopeful.....but nope it still shrunk. LOL I was cool with it though. I didn't end up with any curl definition or anything. Just a cute little tight fro. :) However the thing that surprised me the most was the softness and shine of my hair! It felt even softer than when I would apply my leave in! NEVER have I been able to achieve this when allowing my hair to fully shrink and dry. NEVER! But this time? Oh yeah! I think I may be on to something ladies. So, The next time I wanna rock my shrinkage I will revisit this method. I can get used to this "less product is best" thing. I hope it works for you guys too! Let me know :) Have a great afternoon. Check out my Shrinkage video on YouTube :)

My last relaxer was the end of August 2004. I remember it well because I was getting married the very next week and I didn't want my hair so flat. I remember saying to myself that this is my last relaxer because my edges were suffering and my hair was so thin and lifeless but I wanted that nice updo for my wedding. ( Had I know what my hair was capable of I would have just gotten married! LOL!) Even though I have been natural for 8 years I didn't think I could grow my hair because I had 4 C hair and it was sooooo dry. I kept my hair in a very low fade because I didn't know what else to do.I didn't start trying to grow my hair out until 2012 after discovering youtube ( where had I been?!) and realized that afro textured hair could grow. I just didn't have the knowledge or the tools yet. Anyway, my hair had been thriving and now that I have the knowledge my daughters' hair have improved as well. I'm too happy to change their perception of our hair.
