My Favorite Hair Products 2015! (Part 1) -  Cleansers & Rinse Outs - 4C Natural Hair

9/2/2015

    Hey!  I'm back with my Favorite Product Series!  To kick things off, today, I will be sharing some of my favorite cleansers and rinse out conditioners for my hair.  I will also be doing mini reviews on them to give you all the deets!  I really hope this helps!  :)

As I Am Coconut Cowash Cleansing Conditioner

Picture
    The As I Am Coconut Co-wash Cleansing Conditioner has been in my stash forever!  I have be very faithful to this product because it hasn't let me down.  Each time I use it, my hair feels very clean and refreshed with no buildup or product residue.  It's hard to believe that this isn't exactly a shampoo because it cleans so well!  Best of all, my coils are happy and remain hydrated during my co-washing process. :)

Pros

*  Affordable  $7.99 for 26 oz

*  Cleans very well in spite of the large amount of castor oil

*  Moisturizes and softens hair

* I don't need to use a lot of product when used diluted. (I'm using between 1-2 oz per co-wash session.)

*  Decent ingredients

* Silicone free

*  Gently lathers on my hair, which aids in cleansing.

* Rinses clean/ No build up

Cons

*  The scent could be a bit better.

* Jar packaging isn't helpful. There's always a chance to overuse the product or get water inside the jar...  I actually like to add a little to an bottle  and dilute with water.

Palmer's Olive Oil Cleansing Conditioner

Picture
    I totally slept on this product!  I should have tried it much sooner, but I was afraid to do so because of the ingredients.  Palmer's Olive Oil Cleansing Conditioner isn't an "all natural"  product but it does a great job of cleansing my hair without stripping it of its moisture.

Pros

*  Affordable $9.99 for 16 oz

*  Cleanses without stripping the hair

*  Scent is pleasant (minty leaf lol)

* Sulfate free

Cons

*  Packaging dispenses too little product.  I feel like I have to pump 100 times to get a decent amount out of the bottle lol.

* Ingredients aren't the best

Dr. Miracle's Conditioning Shampoo

Picture
    Woah!!!  A shampoo has made it to my faves!  It's no secret that my hair doesn't get alone with most shampoos.  Usually, they leave my hair feeling rough, dry, tangled, frizzy, and just not right.  However, Dr. Miracle's Conditioning Shampoo is quite the opposite!  I have been reaching for this sulfate free shampoo when I feel my hair needs to be cleansed from any silicone/product residue that may happen over the month.

Pros

*  Affordable $3.49 for 12 oz

* Gentle on my hair

*  Cleanses without stripping my hair.  I prefer to shampoo 1x per session.

*  Smells refreshing

* Cleanses very well although it's sulfate free

*  Doesn't leave my hair frizzy and dry

Cons

*  This product is quite runny, so if used undiluted, lots of product will be required.

Aussie Miraculously Smooth Conditioner

Picture
  When I first tried the Aussie Miraculously Smooth Conditioner along with the matching shampoo, I wasn't sure if it would ever become a fave for me, but it did!  Although the shampoo was too harsh on my hair, this conditioner works great without it.

Pros

*  Affordable $4.99 for 29.2 oz

*  Smells great!

*  Hydrating to my hair while keeping it balanced.

*  Decent slip

*  Can be used for co-washing (cleans better than the Aussie Moist)

Cons

* none

Aussie Moist Conditioner

Picture

    Aussie Moist Conditioner is very popular amongst naturalista's and I see why!  This conditioner packs a major moisture punch to thirsty hair.  This is a multipurpose conditioner for me doubling as  leave-in on days where I desire extra moisture.

Pros

*  Affordable $4.99 for 29.2 oz

*  Smells awesome!

*  Very moisturizing (depending on what I have in my hair.)

*  Leaves long lasting moisture even after rinsing

*  Great as a rinse out and leave in

*  Contains silicone for added slip (The amount of slip I receive depends on the products I have in my hair at the time.  See vid for more details.)

* Can be used for co-washing

Cons

*  Sometimes the during the rinsing process my hair isn't as soft as I'd like... but after I shake out the excess water, my hair feels awesome.  (See vid for further details. ;) )

*  Will give me moisture overload if I use it too often.

Shea Moisture Curl & Shine Conditioner

Picture
    I love Shea Moisture's products!  This one has remained a fave for me forever!  The Curl & Shine Conditioner is great for just about everything.  It's lightweight texture allows any hair type to benefit without adding extra weight to the hair.  This is a product I know I can rely on because it pairs well with other products, and doesn't contain glycerin... which can make my hair go "poof" in warmer weather.

Pros

* Affordable-  $11.99 for 13 oz (Shea Moisture always has sales too!)

* Great ingredients

*Smells awesome

* Softens hair

* Great as a leave in (works well with gel and other products)

* Great as a rinse out conditioner

* Lightweight
(perfect if you like to use conditioner as stylers)

*Helps with detangling

*  Perfect for all hair types

* You can even use it as a shaving lotion lol.

Cons

* The awesome scent makes you want to use more product than necessary LOL!

Shea Moisture Volumizing Conditioner

Picture
    Like the Shea Moisture Curl & Shine Conditioner, Shea Moisture's Volumizing Conditioner is just as good!  I have been using this product forever and this too, is great for just about everything!  It's multipurpose and very lightweight on the hair so it doesn't weigh fine strands down.

Pros

*  Affordable $9.99-11.99 for 13 oz

* Great ingredients

* Smells nice ( to me lol)

*  Softens hair

*  Great as a rinse out conditioner

* Great as a leave in

*  Enhances coils

*  Leaves no residue

*  Adds slip for detangling

*  Works well with other products

* Lightweight

*  Great for looser textures too!

*  Great packaging - (Pumps are always helpful!)

Cons

  *  Scent may be strong for some.

Note:  There has been a label change and may have been an ingredient change to this product.

Shea Moisture KIDS Extra-Nourishing Conditioner

Picture
    Why oh why did I not try this product sooner?!?  Was it because it's marketed toward kids?  Was it the size of the bottle?  Both?  Well, either way I SHOULD NOT have waited to try this... it's AMAZING on my hair!  I've tried many Shea Moisture rinse out conditioners in the past and have several faves, but this one take the cake!  When is the next BOGO sale lol?

Pros

*  Very moisturizing!

*  Phenomenal slip for detangling!

*  Smells great

*  Can be used as a leave in or rinse out

*  Can be used as a deep conditioner since it is so moisturizing

* Enhances coils

*  Great packaging - (Pumps are always helpful!)

* Lightweight

*  Great for all hair types

Cons

*  I wish this product came in a larger size.  $9.99 for 8oz

If you receive a bad bleach job and the stylist tells you that the damaged hair will recover with time, or it will "bounce back" in a few weeks, they're lying. Ask for your money back and go somewhere else.
