It appears that Revlon has changed the formula to Colorstay Makeup...

I am soo not happy right now...  I posted not long ago that I was having trouble getting the Revlon Colorstay Makeup out of the bottle lol which has never happened before in all my 5-7 years of using  it!  Well, I decided to search online to see what was up with the formula and lo and behold many people are frustrated with the supposed "new formula."
I actually like the coverage that the new formula gives, and if I don't mess with my face it lasts me until almost midnight just like before.  But notice I said "if I don't mess with my face,"  ugh this is where the frustration sets in....this "new" formula TRANSFERS!  Something that it has never done before!  I used to be able to touch my face, sweat, rinse with water, try on clothes, laugh, cry, fall asleep with it still on, and probably could have swam the Atlantic Ocean without the OLD formula budging!  But the new one???  I can't even blot my face with a tissue without a lot coming off :(  SMH.  I try to go light with the application because the new texture can look pasty if too much is used...yet another thing to get used to.
I'm soo disappointed :(    I really hope Revlon goes back to the "tried and true" formula because it was absolutely awesome.  It wasn't broken....I'm not sure why the company tried to "fix" it.  I was able to find a bottle of the old version the other day when checking the labels at Target, so I picked it up even though I'm not using it yet. (I still have a full bottle of the new formula to use up lol.)  I just wanted to have the old formula in my stash.

Here is the formula comparison:

THE NEW FORMULA...

Picture

The packaging is the EXACT SAME!  SMH.... There is No indication that the formula has changed from the front of the bottle...  So unless you peel the ingredients label off the back you'll never know there's been a change unless you open the makeup...
Picture

THE OLD AWESOME FORMULA...lol

Picture

Original packaging.

Neither formula has the greatest ingredients :/  Maybe one day they'll make the foundation perform like the old formula except using healthy ingredients...

      Have a blessed day!!!

Hey Crys, would you mind taking a pic of the labelling at the front of each bottle and posting it as well. I've recently started using Revlon Colorstay and Iove it...but i'm not sure if the one I have is the new or old formula

I've been using color stay since the 80's toast I loved when it was changed to pump and when it's on sale at rite Aid I buy 2-4 but the pump stops after 2pumps and there is less makeup in bottle I'm considering changing brand because there are other 24 hour makeups even if more expensive and I get a lot of compliments

The eyeliner must have changed too because it always breaks and transfers and runs. So disappointing as I’ve been using this product for many many years. Thanks a lot Revlon.

I'm so glad I am not the only one that has noticed this!!! I really struggle to get the make up out of the bottle now, and the make up seems thinner so spreads easier on my face but it means it doesn't last as long. Very disappointed!

Hi Michela!
I'm still very frustrated with this change ugh. I actually used the old better formula yesterday and didn't have to worry at all about blotting or touching my face. NOTHING CAME OFF! The old formula is so awesome and has a more natural finish....
I have learned how to work with the new formula but worrying about transfering and fading is The Worst! I'm a mom on the go and don't have time to worry about my foundation lol!

this is not the first time. they switched formula a few years ago and it really upset me because it was the only one that ever worked for me. the older style has gold bands around the base of the black lid. for me that was the best colorstay ever. i still look for it everywhere lol. but it is super frustrating when companies do this for no reason, just to 'update' their products :( they do not realise that they are taking away a great staple product for many customers.

Hi there, I genuinely thought I was only imagining this after using Colorstay for the past 4 or 5 years but I know now I'm definitely not!
I couldn't get the foundation out of the bottle for a start, the consistency was significantly different and after about 2 or 3 hours my skin was horribly oily, and half the foundation had rubbed off leaving big red patches! It had also caked up around my smile lines and dimples and I literally gasped in the mirror with horror when I first seen it.
I am so disappointed! I had read reviews on the Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation and was considering trying it but then found out it's exactly the same deal. It was a similar foundation, and a lot of peoples' HG, but EL recently changed the formula in the last year or so and disappointed all their customers in literally the exact same way Revlon did. Weird!
Have you found any foundations similar to the old Colorstay formula yet? I am so cautious about trying new things as I have already and wasted a lot of money..
Thankyou

Hey Alexandra!
I still use this makeup even though its not nearly as good it used to be :( I actually just got another new bottle and its more liquidy kinda like the old formula, so it comes out easier from the bottle... but the staying power is even WORSE than the one I was talking about in this post! SMH!

Hi again Crystal. My previous post was meant to go here, oops. I went to Walmart with your "check order of ingredients" tip in mind, but alas, no old formulas left. I also noticed the new formula doesn't fully coat the glass wall; there are air pockets in the sealed bottles. Some LIQUID foundation that is! ;) And to think I was all excited at the prospect of a new pump mechanism apparently being introduced in select test markets. I waited YEARS for that! What awful timing, lol. Thanks again for the heads up.

I am SO UPSET. Colourstay was my holy grail. The only make up I ever found that covers my aweful acne rosacea and lasted the length of my 15 hour shifts. New formula looks just like the old one when it goes on my skin, then after about 3 hours of sweating at work, my skin
looks oily, blotchy, and runs off like face paint. I always use cornflour talc over colourstay to fix it. Worked like a charm, until now. I'm on the hunt for a new foundation after starting my second bottle of new formula and realising that it wasnt just a 'dud' bottle. Damn.

That's too bad :/ I'm having trouble with the new formula again looking pasty lol! I have to really be precise and take my time applying it or else! SMH I usually am ok with the application... after several fails lol I got the hang of it...but sometimes I still jack it up!

I totally agree with you, I thought my bottles were dud's too, but now that I have been reading that the formula has changed but none of the bottles have changed then I know it is Revlon that changed that formulas! Crap, I was just beginning to like this stuff and this has been my Holy grail for the past 3 years! SMH

Well, considering you have acne rosacea, it was veryyyy wrong to use it in the first place, old or new formula, the old one being more irritant, as the alcohol in them only makes rosacea worse(or at best, keeps it the same, no improvement). Look for other foundations, not the old one.

I disagree, if a make up is able to stay perfect on my face for many hours, it prevents me from touching, picking, scratching, and anything else that irritates it, it acts as a protective coating to me, provided it is properly removed every night, has never worsened my skin. Due to a medical reason I have recently been off of work and in my house with no need for any make up for the last six weeks, and my skin has blown up! And I know you may say that it's my skin trying to get back to normal, but IMO me being able to touch my face is a far worse alternative to any foundation, let alone one that stays on my face all day and makes me feel confidant about myself. With skin like mine, you would not care what it took to cover it up and just feel pretty. Instead of feeling like a monster that people literally stare at.

Rocasea is progressive condition in most cases, and cannot be bettered. If I can maintain my current state of rocasea by simply keeping my face covered (which also calms my acne by stopping the touching) then I am a happy person. Without causing offense, I think you have to live in somebody else's skin to know what is best for them. I have dealt with this for many years, and prescribed many treatments that even dermatologists agree are not compatible with my particular skin.

Hey all! I'm from Australia and have been using Revlon Colorstay for approx 10yrs! the best ever but now it has changed and it is crapity crap! I want to put in a complaint to Revlon head office! the new version isnt even colourstay! after 4 hours it starts to go blotchy and cakey and it just wipes off if I touch my face! it was so hard to find a light enough colour for me and one that lasted all day being so hot here! I am so upset and dont know what to use now...not happy!

Actually there is one little difference on how the bottle looks from the outside. 1- the old formula did not have a sticker on the cap saying 24hrs, instead you would have to go to the label on the back which said 16hrs and 2- the new version (at least the one I have) has a higher spf

Finally someone realize this!!!!! There barely much say in the net about this new formula, so I thought it was just me. But yeah, this new formula sucks! The new one is transfer, too thick, doesn't stay on my smile line and look cakey on my pores, so difficult to blend using brush or sponge, though it can easily blend using fingers, it looks so pasty. It's 1000x worse on me since I have very oily cheek. I HATE THE NEW FORMULA! IT DOESN'T EVEN STAY! I WANT THE OLD FORMULA BACK! :(

True, the old formula wasn't really a miracle, but it's the best for "affordable, drugstore foundation for oily face". The new formula, however, is the worst ever.

Hi again, I have recently spoken to a revlon cosmetic sales lady and voiced my unhappiness of the new revlon colorstay. She said a lot of people have been complaining too. She said the reason revlon changed the colorstay formula was because people were complaining it was drying/setting to quick for them to apply it. Well obviously those people weren't pros like us puttin it on ;) she said basically the new formula has more 'moisture' in it, she said to try it without putting any moisturiser or primer on (eeek! I thought!). But I was willing to try anything! So I didn't use anything before putting it on and then set it with revlon translucent loose powder - and it has worked! Cause I use the oily version, it has enough 'moisture' in it that I don't need to prep before hand. So try that...? It's worth a shot. It's still not perfectly colorstay, if I scratch my nose it will come off but now it's not cakey n lasts all day instead of a few hours!

Hey Krystel!

Thanks soo much for the heads up! It's awesome that you were able to talk to someone about it! :D You know what's funny though? Soo many people were complaining that it was drying before they could blend it...but revlon clearly states on the bottles instructions to blend one section at a time...not dot it everywhere and try to blend it lol.

I thought I was the only one noticing the change in the formula. I would go to CVS. Rite Aide, Target etc. in search of a more loose liquid that comes out the bottle. I found myself opening the bottles before purchasing to make sure it's not that matt paint finish. I have found the old ones a couple of times but not recent. I have been using Revlon since year dot. My daughter's are now users of Revlon Colorstay. It's so embarrassing when I go to hug a friend because the foundation comes off on their clothes. I may slightly touch my face and before I know it, it's on my papers at work, it's on the binders, on folder. Even at home not realizing I have it on my hands my doors are have patches of make up on it. I am in the midst of trying other foundations. I cannot take this anymore of leaving traces of foundation everywhere. I can't even use my phone without leaving foundation residue. I hate it.

What has Revlon done to their foundation, it is awful! I use to use Revlon Age Defying liquid foundation with the red top, botafirm, SPF20; honey beige. Now I have tried 24 hour Colorstay I don't like the feel and I don't like the colors I can't get a close match. Now I've tried the horrible pump Revlon Age Defying and it is think, pore clogging comes off on clothes looks fake, feels too think. And lastly I just spent another $9.00 on the Nearly Naked and though it is better than the pump, not good coverage and cannot find a color that works with my skin tone. Bring back the old formula!

Hi again, watched your video a few times (BTW you are drop dead gorgeous!) and still struggle with this awful formula. Older formulas are flying off EBay, I just scored 11 bottles of black logo (new version has white Revlon) and 10 bottles of SoftFlex (which I also don't like as much but still much better than thus new crap!) and am in HEAVEN, at least for as awhile. Revlov has a Facebook page and I just posted a plea to bring back original formula and a link to this page (i hope you dont mind!) and some others to show how unhappy we are with this new version. They are losing loyal followers in droves! Thanks for all you do and keep up the pretty face!

I even emailed Revlon about 6 months ago complaining. So, about to put it on, and will let you know the results after a full day of family fun!

I'm not really sure why they change but I hate the new formula. Also here in Chicago they have pretty much discontinue the darker line. I'm so sad that was the only make up the pretty much blended with my skin color, and looked natural. Very unhappy that they didn't include the black women.

I glad to see that I'n not the only one that have a problem with this. I'm really thinking of getting another product. Because the foundation doesn't look flawless like it use to. What I've also noticed is when touching your face the make up comes off and that never ever use to happen, I've been using this for so many years and to be so disappointed in a product that you have been using for so many years.

Add me to the list of disappointed users of the "new" Revlon foundation. I went from flawless skin to flawed skin. I have thrown my bottle out, and will never use this stuff again. I always read ingredients on anything I put on my skin, but this time, I didn't. I had a sneaking suspicion, and now I am sure. Oh well, I will let my natural beauty show....well, after my skin clears up!

Thanks for the information.

I am very disappointed with the new pump that has just reached our area. The formula is so thin and covers nothing like the previous formula. Wish I still had my receipt to return the two bottles I just purchased.

I discovered the formula for colorstay had changed back in2013. I managed to get hold of several bottles online, but now they are used. I emailed Revlon and complained and they sent me a number to ring. I live in the UK and I thought maybe it was just over here. But no, the rather snotty woman on the phone told me that the new "improved" formula was here to stay. I had mentioned in my email that I noticed a lot of complaints on social media about the new formula to no avail. I have given up on the new one. Not only is it paler (sand beige 180) it transfers and is powdery and ageing. Its a real shame because I had been using it since the 90's when Cindy Crawford fronted the advertising and I was often asked what makeup I used. I now use Estee Lauder double wear, but it's not a patch on the original Revlon!

I have tried the Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse...I love it... the application can be a bit tricky at first but I have found the perfect brush and a little goes a long way (I used too much one day and was orange)...

Has anyone noticed the round white flakes in the new formula?
I have used the Revlon Colorstay foundation since they first came out with it and I loved it. I hate the new formula and like most of the commenters I thought I had purchased a bad batch, so I bought a new bottle. I kept noticing little white flecks on my skin which for the longest time I thought was coming from my sponge. Nope! I applied with a brush and the same thing happened. I use a 5X magnifying mirror so I can see all these little white flecks that look like dead skin only they are perfectly round. At first I thought they had added some micro beads but this looks like talc flakes. I will quit buying this product as soon as I can find something I like. I hope Revlon is paying attention to their customer base.

YES the white flecks have been bothering me for months and I thought it was my dry skin at first since it's dead of winter right now, but my skin is very moisturized. I changed and washed my sponge a million times and finally I'm noticing it's the actual makeup that has these flecks in it. So annoying, I'm going to have to buy a different brand even though it keeps my skin clear :(

Yes I'm done with them. Taking it back after work today. I will not pay $14 for a bottle that runs out like water and doesn't even want to stay on my face. Too bad. It was my favorite foundation ever.

In addition to all these comments, everything is matte!!! At 53 I don’t need matte finish! The few colours they have in full coverage are not mine! Bring back the old stuff!!

Oh my God so I'm 51 was thinking it has my getting changed so much that the foundation isn't working like it used to? Definitely is very pastey. I have been using this Foundation since I was 17 years old. Sad to say it's time for a change. Shame on Revlon.

I have used and bragged about this foundation since I was 20. I’m in my 60’s now. I’m so discussed with this new foundation. In search of a new brand. Very sad.

Revlons 16 hour liquid lipstick doesn’t even last until lunchtime anymore Soooo disappointed. I will try other brands now. It’s a waste of money
