Laila Ali Dryer results :)

Aight I'm done! It took 20-30 minutes (I lost track of time lol!) on the cool setting
(which is actually a warm setting) on high speed to dry my hair 99 percent! My
hair was VERY VERY smushed from the dryer lol! But I was able to finger fluff it
like normal. The product combo worked great!  I'm out to get Supa Gabe!
BTW, don't mind the fact that I keep rockin this sweater lol!!! Hey it happens! :)

Aight this is real time ya'll lol! I just cowashed my hair and I'm doing a wash & go. (The products I'm using today in this order are Avocado oil, Jane Carter Creamy Leave in Styling Smoother, SM Curling Gel Souffle and Jane Carter Nourish and Shine.)

I'm trying the Laila Ali dryer out now... It's 17 degrees out and I gotta get Gabe soon.  I'll post what my hair looks like after I'm done with the dryer.  :)

Adding Essential Oils to Water :)

Quick tip: If you have fine hair or are sensitive to using lots of heavy oils on your
scalp, try adding a few drops of your essential oils to some water instead of a
carrier oil.  :) That way, you are still able to reap the benefits of some of your favorite oils. It also works nice as a hair refresher. Currently, I add about 5-7 drops to 2 oz of water.  I'll probably tweak this a little as I learn what works for me.  :)

Battle of the Twists!

Sometimes I like to do "on the hair" side by side comparisons with my products. This helps me get an idea on how my hair will turn out before committing to doing my entire head with a product only to find that it was a complete fail lol. Today, I decided to play with some things I use as leave ins and stylers for my hair. I wanted to see how they'd work for my dry twistouts.

BTW, My hair is a couple days oil and has avocado oil, Shea Moisture Yucca & Baobab Volumizing Conditioner, Grapeseed oil, and Fantasia Ic Hair Polisher Gel in it. (For this experiment, I added each product to my hair without additional H20.)

Avoiding Flaking From Products :)

Avoiding Flakes, Balls, & "Goo" In Hair When Mixing Products - NaturalMe4C
I think we all can relate to having to rinse out your hair because of a product not mixing well with something else you had in your hair and it caused, flakes, goo balls, and chunks of product to lodge itself into your hair. (Not to mention if you have curly or coily hair it is a PAIN to wash out!) The problem usually lies when combining water based leave ins and gels together.  It can be hit or miss at times, so knowing whether or not they work nicely together BEFORE applying them to your hair can save you lots of time.  This is a really easy trick I like to do before mixing products that I'm not familiar with using together in my hair.
Example of products that mix well together:  Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie and Fantasia IC Hair Polisher Styling Gel.
Example of products that don't mix well together:  Eden Body Works Coconut Shea Leave In Conditioner and Fantasia IC Hair Polisher Styling Gel/ Eco Styler Argan Oil Gel.

My Skirt  Slip Replaced My Bonnet!??!?!

4/8/2013

Alright, do not laugh!  I have been sleeping with my skirt slip over my fro for the past  week lol!  Yes!!! Sounds crazy right? Okay, so let me explain what's be  my bonnet is not real satin it is actually only satin like.  In fact, most scarves and bonnets that are sold in stores like Walmart or beauty supply store are polyester, nylon, and rayon blends :)   I don't mind using these materials as long as they don't dry out my fro.  My bonnet and scarf hasn't cause any dryness so that's why I have been using them :)  However, as my hair grows out, it is also growing up!  LOL  Unfortunately, my bonnet is now raising up on my head and rubbing against my edges which is a no go for me.

I've been thinking about ordering a new bonnet, one made of silk or a better satin, but honestly, I don't feel like spending money on one just yet lol.  I needed an alternative to protect my fro at night.  That's where the idea of trying my skirt slip came in lol!  My slip feels almost identical to my bonnet and scarf.  The one I've been trying out is made of  nylon but its not dry and draggy like a stocking lol.  It's actually very smooth :)  I have several slips and they are all different materials (poly blends, nylon, rayon etc.)

I have to admit I was nervous at first trying the slip out, but I'm soo glad I did!  My hair has been soo much more moisturized :)  So much so, that I have been going days with out having to add really anything to my fro.  My styles have been holding up awesome as well and I have been getting about 4-5 days out of my styles without re- twisting.   There has been no breakage, snagging, or extra frizzing either!   I'm lovin the slip!  So, for now, I will be using my slip along with my satin pillow case (which is on its last leg), to protect my fro at night until I decide whether or not I want to order a new bonnet :)  I'm not in a rush though!  Have a great day!

So Easy  Flower Accessories!

1/29/2013

Accessorizing your hair is fun but it can become quite expensive!  Sometime's I can't even find an accessory that I like because the ones available are either too big, too small, or not cute lol.  So why not make you own?!

Here's what you need:
Picture
A hot glue gun loaded with a glue stick.

Picture
Barrette clips, bobby pins, other clips or combs :)

Picture
A bunch of fake flowers!

Here's what you do!

Making your own hair accessories can be a lot of fun :D  You can create all sorts of cool color combinations for your hair without breaking the bank.  Also, you get to pick the right size flower for your hair length instead of having to deal with the "one size fits all" flowers in the stores lol. I hope you like this idea and give it a try!  Have a blessed day :D
