Braid & Curl Tutorial - (Ft. Eden Body Works) - Great Transitioning Style- (Requested) - NaturalMe4C3/31/2014 Hey! In this video I share an updated Braid & Curl Style. :) This was requested from the vlog, Pick Your Stuff Up Man! - Family Meeting #2- (Vlog) - Kriss & Ty - NaturalMe4C Pick Your Stuff Up Man! - Family Meeting #2- (Vlog) - Kriss & Ty - NaturalMe4C . I hope it helps! BTW, I'm using one of my favorite product combos to achieve this style! The ProcessThe Take DownThe ResultsI use to rock this style ALL the time during my transition to natural hair! It's very helpful when it comes to blending multiple textures together. In today's vlog, "New Looks & Procrastination!" I was rockin' this bold style w/ my fro Sometimes it just wants to go up!
Why oh why must I attempt new things when I have to go somewhere? LOL Even though we were going to Gabriel's graduation ceremony, I decided to try doing a dry braidout on my hair using the Curl Enhancing Smoothie since many ladies enjoy using it along with the Curling Souffle (which was still in my hair from the day before.) I did the same technique on my hair except this time my hair wasn't soaking wet :) I braided my hair in medium braids and twisted the last 2 inches or so. (I was mentally preparing myself to do another puff since the smoothie had glycerin in it too.) Once again, as I removed the braids and the air got to my fro, it started to swell! It was soo soft...but it once again had very little hold. I knew immediately that it was not going to last an entire day before leaving the bathroom! At the graduation ceremony, I was sooo concerned about it because I could tell it was swelling and shrinking lol. I just wanted it to remain in control especially since I really wasn't in a position to be able to tweak it at the moment :D Well, this dry braidout lasted about 6 1/2 hours before I put it up! I don't think it looked bad, but I felt like my fro was behaving unpredictable so I chickened out and up it went at about 1:30 pm! After my failed twistout with the Shea Moisture Curling Souffle, I decided to try a braid out :) (This was a risk especially since I always have braidout "drama" lol.) Once again, my attempt failed! After removing my braids, my fro immediately started reverting like it was running from something! Now that my hair is longer, it's just too humid for my hair to have any hold when using such a glycerin heavy product (and it's not even officially summer yet!) So needless to say, my braidout had to go up into a puff because even with the slightest manipulation, it was reverting and bushing out fast! I tried to save it! (I'm not sure I did though lol!)
So how do I feel about the Souffle??? I still love it because my fro is CRAZY SOFT and REALLY moisturized! (BTW,The Curling Souffle is the product that leaves my hair the softest (during the spring and summer) out of all my products. Giovanni Smooth As Silk is the conditioner that leaves my hair the softest out of all the conditioners I have.) Check out, Failed Braidout (Curling Souffle)- NaturalMe4C on Youtube!
Good Morning! So, I actually attempted another braidout! After finally having a successful braidout not long ago, I was encouraged to try it again lol. This braidout was done by braiding the hair a little over half way the the length, and then twisting the ends. I did not have to use rollers on my ends of my hair this time, thanks to having a fresh trim! This braidout lasted about 3 days before loosing all of the definition. I decided to re-twist my hair the night of day 3. I chose not to re-braid my hair because I have been spoiled by the ease of twisting lol! I just wanted to show you guys a comparison between not re-twisting and re-twisting :) Pics on the left are results of styling a 3 day old braid out without re-twisting it at night. Pics on the right are results of re-twisting the braidout. I was left with more "stretch" and volume after re-twisting :) However, I actually like the shrunken look better lol. Take care :)

Preparation
* Moisturized hair is a must for great twistouts/braidouts. * Be sure to use a product with " hold" for long lasting results. (Gels are great options.) * Be sure to use the proper size twists or braids for the style you are trying to achieve. ( large twists= fuller fro with little definition) (small twists= very tight and defined fro) * When unraveling braids/twists out, be careful not to unravel them too much on the first day. This will prevent frizz and loss of definition. Night Care Tips * Moisturize your hair if needed. * Re-braiding/re-twisting is a great way to prolong your style. (However, keep in mind that your hair may not look the same as day one. LOL) * Protect your hair with a satin bonnet, satin scarf, or satin pillowcase at night. Styling Tips * Using the steam from a shower is a great way to revamp your style. This is fantastic if you opted not to re-twist/re-braid your hair. * Style your hair in ways that compliment whatever "shape" your hair has taken on for the day. LOL (I've been amazed by how many ways my hair has molded and smushed from a night's rest! LOL) * Don't fight the fro! Don't be alarmed if you wake up to a twistout/braidout with very little definition. In this case, just "Fro and Go" or "Puff and Go"! LOL * Add product to your hair only when necessary. * Try using accessories to play up your style. I'm very excited about the results of this braidout! Especially since I have been having trouble with getting them to look right. I changed up the way I usually do my braids this time around. This time, I only added aloe vera gel midway to the ends of my hair instead of the entire length. This was a huge help in removing the parts created by the braids. I was able to spend less time "hiding" the parts. I think the results came out pretty good inspite of my straggly ends lol. Let me know what you guys think. Also, what are some techniques you use to achieve a successful braidout? See pictures below :) ![]() I'm venturing into "braidout" territory again. Last night, I braided my hair(dry) before going to bed. It turned out okay I guess, but I'm still not quite lovin it. :/ It's definitly good for stretching my hair when I wanna see some length. Braidouts used to be my ultimate transitioning hairstyle. Once I decided to give up heat during my transistion, I had to come up with a way to style my hair. Braidouts were perfect for blending the many textures I had going on at the time. Before I big chopped, I was sure that I would continue having success with braidouts. However, that is not the case! LOL They seem to take way too long to do and undo. It also takes me almost triple the time to style in the morning vs my twistout! I always have trouble hiding the parts :( As for my ends? They always come out crazy looking. LOL (Maybe they will look better after I trim them.) Anyways, I just can't seem to get my braidouts quite right. Funny huh? I mastered this style while transitioning, but now, not so much. (sigh) I'm not ready to give up on this style. I loved it soo much during my transition to natural. There has to be a way to make this style work for me again. So, I will be doing a braidout on clean hair within the next day or so. I will be sure to let you guys see how it turns out. Pray for me!
