Check out, New Oils For My Hair - NaturalMe4C
Here are the oils I will be incorporating in my regimen along with reasons why I'm using them:

Orange Oil - fragrance (nothing much here! :D)

Rosemary Oil - stimulates scalp, potential growth aid

Vitamin E Oil (T-50 Tocopherol) - antioxidant that helps prolong life of products (I use this for my flaxseed gel)

Jamaican Black Castor Oil/ Castor oil - potential aid in thickening the hair, detoxifies scalp, softens hair

Coconut Oil - penetrates hair shaft, aids in detangling, prevents protein loss, helps prevent hair from swelling too much during wash sessions. This is important to me since I'm still trying to recover from incomplete splits from the Tangle Tamer Max.

Grapeseed Oil - Sealing moisture (I'm using the LOCO method and will be using this oil for my last "O" )

Avocado Oil (mentioned in a previous video) - I'm now using this as my first "O" in the LOCO method. It penetrates hair,contains lots of vitamins, softens, natural sun screen, and adds shine.

Olive Oil (mentioned in previous videos) - I was using this oil as my first "O" but I am enjoying the avocado oil much more!  Shocking! This oil penetrates hair, adds shine, softens, fights frizz.

Peppermint Oil (mentioned in a previous video) -
Helps calm itchy scalp, stimulates blood flow, smells awesome!

Check out, Flaxseed Gel First Impression - NaturalMe4C

    Hey!  I finally got around to making up some flaxseed gel for the first time!  (Long overdue lol!)  I was surprised at how easy it was to make.  It only took about 10 minutes or so and it was done! I boiled 2 cups of water and used 4 tablespoons of flaxseeds to make the gel.  I'm definitely going to make up some more of this because so far my hair likes it and it works awesome for both Gabe and Mike's hair.

PROS For My Fro

*  Easy to make

*  Cheap

*  Healthy and safe alternative for commercial gel

*  Great slip

*  Soft hold

*  Works well with other products

*  With a preservative like vitamin E oil and stored in the fridge last at least a month!

*Can add whatever oils you like to it to perfect it for your fro

*  You can reuse the boiled flaxseeds for your next batch!

Quick Tip:  Try putting your flaxseed gel into a soap dispenser or something with a pump to have an easier time using the product since it is soo goopy!

CONS For My Fro

 *  SLIMY BOOGIE - LIKE CONSISTENCY LOL!!!

*  Has to be refrigerated to have a decent shelf life.

'Lil Bit Of Shopping :)

From Target

   Hey!  Today I did a little shopping and I ended up picking up the As I Am coconut Cowash Cleansing Conditioner to see how it compares to my favorite Eden Body Works Coconut Shea Cleansing Cowash.  This product has great ingredients and many great reviews so I thought it would be worth a try.  We'll see!  How do you like this product?

     Also, I picked up Maybelline Fit Me pressed powder in 330, to see how it works on my skin.  I still wear my beloved Revlon Colorstay foundation 99 percent of the time, but I want to see if I can get comfortable with a lighter coverage since my skin has improved a ton from my regimen.  I have a couple other powders that I'm playing with as well.  (Revlon Nearly Naked in Medium Deep and Revlon Colorstay in Medium Deep)

From Sally's

    I picked up a couple large applicator bottles to use for the cowash conditioners because the jars the are in are not practical lol. The Large bottles have a large opening so it will be a lot easier to pour the product into the bottle.   I bought a smaller bottle for my new batch of oils I'll be mixing up.  I won't be using that small nozzle though lol.  I have a Roots Only comb top that I'm going to put on that.  I also picked up my 3rd jar of Eden Body Works Coconut Shea Cleansing Cowash because it was on sale for 2 bucks off and I still LOVE that stuff!  It's still No.1 to clean my fro!

That day, we also headed out for some barbecue for dinner.  Two words, Famous Dave's!   YUM!!!

 *  Frizzy crazy failed twistouts

*  Successful wash & gos

*  Detangling and Search and Destroy Missions

*  Updating my progress dealing with the incomplete splits that recently occurred from the Tangle Tamer

*  "Ah ha" realization that I shouldn't have given up on gel

*  Thoughts of cutting a little more length of my hair

I just chat it up ya'll lol!

Dare I?  Tweaking up my version of the LOC Method

Check out, Trying Something New ( Tweaking The LOC Method ) - Hair Talk - NaturalMe4C
     I'm bored! Yup, I think it's time to branch out a little bit and see what other things my hair likes!  Now, I'm not going crazy far from home lol, but I want to try something new for Ms. Fro.  First, I want to see what other oils and butters my hair will enjoy.  Is there something better for me that olive oil and avocado butter solely?  Do I even need a butter at all at this point in my journey?  I think it's a good thing to see exactly what each product in your regimen it doing for you instead of just using it just because...

    I have been doing the LOC method for a year and it has done wonders for my hair!  I love that method and don't want it give it up...but I do want to tweak it a little once again.

 As you may know, my current version of the LOC method has been:
L- Water
O- Both Olive oil and avocado butter
C- Some kind of Conditioner or creamy leave in/ twisting cream
Gel- optional

This is what I'm going to be trying:

L- Water
O - Avocado oil
C - Some kind of Conditioner or creamy leave in/ twisting cream
O- Sealing oil
Gel- optional...but my hair really does better when I DO use it

My first attempt at the LOCO method looked like this:

L- water
O- Avocado oil
C- Shea Moisture Curl and Shine Conditioner and Eden BodyWorks Leave in Conditioner (I don't plan on using two leave ins all the time, lol I was just nervous an wanted to make sure my hair was moisturized since this was my first time doing this. )

O- Avocado oil  (I used avocado oil for my first round of trying this method and it worked nicely, but will be using a different oil that's cheaper and better for sealing since avocado oil is a penetrating oil. )

So far so good!  My hair is doing awesome with this "LOCO" method lol.  See!  I told you I wasn't going to far from home!  (BTW, olive oil and avocado butter are still on my list of things I like to use in rotation for my hair.  I still love them both, I just want to venture out a little.)

I'm Staying AWAY from the Tangle Tamer!

Check out, Tangle Tamer Review (Incomplete Splits! Setback?) + Hair Talk - NaturalMe4C

    I posted a little while back that I would let you know how the Tangle Tamer MAX worked out with detangling my wash and gos.  Well, IT DID NOT WORK OUT AT ALL!   I am soooooooooo frustrated that I even thought about giving a tool like this a try. This brush was very deceiving because it detangle my hair with ease...no snagging, to tugging...so I thought everything was cool.  Until one night I got the urge to examine my hair (which I do frequently especially when wearing wash and gos.  I was furious at what I found...  the brush literately SHREDDED some of my hair!  I had incomplete splits in the areas that I used the brush in.

    Incomplete splits can be dangerous to hair because if they are in the middle of the strand and then one day decide to open up fully and split, it can cause lots of breakage.  As with all types of split ends, cutting them is the only real way to get rid of them.  You can, however, use things to "mend" them until your ready to snip them away.

    Incomplete splits look like little holes in the hair strand.  UGH!!!
Picture

    Here's what I think is what most people think of when talking about split ends :D
Picture

My Plan Of Action!

 *Search and destroy missions ( A LOT  OF THEM! LOL)

*  Using Coconut oil as a sort of "pre poo" (even though I cowash lol)  This helps prevent the hair from swelling too much during the washing session and therefore prevents weak hair.

*  Protein Treatment using Greek Yogurt 1- 2 times a month

*  Use ACV 1x a month to keep cuticles smooth

* Stepping up my moisture and sealing in moisture with an oil or butter

  Overall View Of The Tangle Tamer

PROS For My Fro

* Removes shed hair well

* Detangles well

CONS For My Fro

*  Caused MAJOR incomplete splits on some of my hair strands!

*  Pricey $9.99  (SALLY'S)

* Handle is not useful at all... it is way too short to help out any.

*  Some bristles are not completely smooth

(I should have know this would be trouble!!!)

* Brush is VERY slippery when detangling with product on your hands and hair
Needless to say, I will NOT be using this brush on my fro anymore!

Digging Deeper - Ye Are The Salt Of The Earth!

Check out, Digging Deeper! - Salt of The Earth!
   Good Morning!  We hope you are having a blessed day!  Yesterday, my husband Ty broke down a very popular scripture where Jesus talks about how we are the salt of the Earth.  Hmmm, have you ever thought, "What exactly does that mean?"  I know I have lol!!!  This video was very helpful to me and I hope it is able to help you too!
You can find where Jesus teaches this lesson in (KJV) Matthew 5:13

There are many things to take away from this scripture:

1. We are needed here!  Don't ever feel like you don't have a place on Earth!  We are here to do the will of The Lord!  He loves us and wants us to thrive. :)

2.  We should preserve and protect the Word of God! Don't be afraid to spread the gospel and let your light shine!!!

3.  We should  be a source of warmth and light in the midst of a cold/bad environment and be a reflection of God! Watch that attitude lol!

4.  We can and are able to heal and cure sickness and more! Yup!  All we have to do is believe God!!!

5.  We have a responsibility to make others see that living for Christ is awesome!  Be a great example and this will create in them a thirst for The Word!

Eco Styler Argan Oil Gel and Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie Twistout

9/4/2013

    Hey!  I just want to share some pics of what my hair looked like up close with the Eco Styler Argan Oil Gel and Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie combo for my twistout after my trim.  Many people like to combine Eco Styler gels with the Smoothie to avoid crunch so I decided to give it a try while trimming my hair.  Surprisingly, This twistout lasted the day and didn't puff up much (Until I wet it that is lol.  I'm still not digging twistouts on me right now. )  The gel clumped the pattern a lot so it looked like I had way less hair lol!  (Just like the last time I did a tight and defined twistout back in April.)  The shine was high and the definition was tight from the gel so if you are looking for something to define your twists this combo may work for you!

Fluffier Twistouts :)
It looks like I have much more hair this way lol. Personally, I prefer this look over definition on me.

My 3rd Trim Since Being Natural :)

    I was feeling the urge for a trim!  You know who you just wanna do something with your hair?  That was me, I wanted to cut some hair lol!  Besides, my fro has been ticked with me on several occasions this summer!  I had to reach for the comb waaay more than I normally would to loosen my hair when she got attitudes with me trying to "twistout" my hair while using glycerin products. My fro and I haven't been very nice to each other when it comes to stretching my hair out. So my ends were tired and I was tired of detangling lol!
    Not to mention, I needed to get rid of some SSKS. ( I actually search and destroy alot more now since I've been going through my hair thoroughly more often. That comes with the territory of wash and go's lol.)  So a trim was definitely useful.

  During this trimming session,  I took off the usual amount, but honestly I had my mind set to cut off about 1- 2 inches instead of the usual 1/4 inch or so!  However, I chickened out lol.  I'm still seriously thinking about going back in to cut it a little shorter. First, I'm going to see how my hair behaves with taking this small amount off first and I'll take it from there. :)

Here's what I did :

The Beatitudes! :)

Check out, Digging Deeper! - The Beatitudes!
    Good evening everyone!  Today, Ty dug deep into one of the most famous lessons that Jesus taught, The Beatitudes, from the sermon on the mount!  Many of us have read these scriptures many times before and are still unsure what some of them really mean. (Myself included lol)  That's why its important for us to try to look deeper into The Word and gain as much as we can from them....instead of just reading and going on without understanding what we read.  These scriptures are extremely important for our daily lives, aid in our success here on Earth, and even help us live holy so we can one day get to Heaven.  Jesus gave us the tools to make it in every situation...we just have to use them!

Be sure to check out The Beatitudes in The Bible :  KJV Matthew chapter 5 vs 1-12

Have a blessed day!
