I ordered the rest of the Eden Bodyworks Coconut Shea products from Sally's for $8.49 each. (I couldn't resist lol!)  I got the Edge Control Glaze and the Pudding Souffle. I also tried to order the leave in but was notified that they were out of stock!  I have been searching everywhere for it so that I can get a complete feel for how the line works together. Sigh, I guess I'll have to work with the leave ins I have until I can find it :/  Once I get a handle on the products and how they work for me I'll be doing reviews on them.  Have an awesome day!!!

Dare I try flexi rods again?  Yup!

I haven't touched my flexi rods since my husband last attempted them back in February!  but they have been sitting under my sink just asking to be taken out for a run so I caved and gave them a try on a dirty twistout.  I ended up using avocado butter on my hair to do 21 twists and I did a test one with shea butter out of curiosity lol.  I usually use conditioner as my styler but I wanted to see if I would get less shrinkage to help combat the army of SSK's.  ( I have been searching and destroying over the past couple days as well.)

I LOVE the way my hair turned out!  It's got me thinking I should start working with my hair dry for certain styles now that it was gotten longer.  Besides, I'm not a fan of a lot of definition with twistouts etc., so I end up liking the results of my dry twists better :D That's what being on a hair journey is all about!  Taking note on how your hair responds to certain things and techniques and  changing  things when needed to have the best results possible.  Even though my hair has gotten longer, it still shrinks up MAJORLY!  I really like that my hair does  that, however it can cause me more ssks which I DO NOT enjoy :(  So I'm going to see if working with my hair dry more often helps me out over all.

Here's what I did:

KJV Genesis Chapters 6-9

Micah and I decided to review the story of Noah!  He has soo much fun helping me tell Bible stories lol.  Hopefully reviewing these lessons will help both boys' with their behavior!  (They both can be a handful sometimes...everywhere and into everything! :D )  That's why it is soo important for us to start instilling the word of God early on so they can hear, apply and retain what they've learned to their daily lives as soon as possible.

Check out, New Hair Products For Summer- NaturalMe4C on YouTube!

After picking up Tresemme Natural's conditioner, I decided to pick up a few more things to try on my hair to see if I can get better hold during this crazy humidity!  (Ya'll I have been going crazy!!!!  Ms. Fro and I have been seriously fighting!)   I'm hoping to be at peace one again with my fro after all this lol.

These products were purchased out of curiosity :)

Eco Styler Argan Oil Gel

found at Sally's $4.69

After having awesome results with hold with the live oil gel from Eco Styler, I was curious to see how the Argan Oil one would work for me.  I hope there's less crunch!

Eden BodyWorks All Natural Cleansing Cowash
found at Sally's $ 7.79- $8.99

I love to use Vo5 conditioners for cowashing because they have always worked awesome for me, but I was curious to see how a product that's actually formulated for cowashing would work on my fro.  How will it compare?  Hmmm...

Eden BodyWorks All Natural Curl Defining Creme
found at Sally's $7.99 - $8.99

I bought this product to see how it compares to Shea Moisture's Curl Enhanching Smoothie :)
I hope something in this small haul works!!! ( There are other Eden Bodyworks products that I'm trying to find to purchase as well.  I kinda want to try the whole line!)

Length Check!  (16 1/2 months post relaxer and 10 1/2 months natural)

6/18/2013

Being on a hair journey usually means you are interested in trying to grow a head full of  long healthy hair.  So it's very easy to get caught up on how fast or how slow your hair is growing, instead of how healthy it is.  I have been there sooo many times!  My hair would be lengthy but in horrible shape ugh...  However, this time, I'm going to really try focusing on what my hair needs and what I want from my hair!  (Sometimes, Ms. Fro and I are going to have to compromise! lol)  I am now 16 1/2 months post relaxer (10 1/2 months natural) and I have been very pleased with the growth of my hair.  I know that it's growing...  I just have to keep it from breaking off of my head lol.  Length will come in time..but having patience is what I'm going to need to be successful during my hair journey.

Height and body frame
When you look at other people, and use them as guides as to how fast you hair should be growing, it can be confusing.  I used to find myself asking, "How can she have bra strap length hair already and we started our journey around the same time???"  I was unaware that some of the people I used as guides were way shorter than me with shorter necks and torsos etc than me :)    (I'm 5'7 1/2  with a long neck, and short torso btw lol)  12 inches of hair will not hit the same body points on everyone.  Once I realized this, I felt a lot better LOL.
Remember that hair grows on average about a 1/2 inch, more or less, a month :)  This varies from person to person.  Also, things like genetics, poor diet, lack of exercise, poor regimen, and over all health can affect hair growth.  It's soo important to take care of our bodies from the inside out.  Just try to enjoy each stage your hair is in.

Stretched Wash and Go w/ Eco Styler Olive Oil Gel and  Shea Moisture Curling Souffle :)

6/15/2013

So I tried the Shea Moisture Curling Souffle mixed with some Eco Styler Olive Oil just to see if the Eco could hold the Souffle's ability to "poof" my hair down lol!!!!  And it did!  I was able to get 3 days out of this stretched wash and go and I'm only washing it because I sweated yesterday and my scalp is telling me to get to rinsing!  I love the way my hair looks with this wash and go!  My coils are poppin' like crazy and my hair has a nice sheen to it but......... my hair feels "eh" :/

It's not particularly soft and it's not particularly crunchy either lol!  It's definitely not as soft as it normally is when I don't use the Eco!  So what does this mean for me???  I'm definitely glad I tried this combo because it allowed me to be able to use a gel that has been under my sink for like 9 months!  I'm going to try this combo with the Eco Argan Oil Gel to see if my hair feels softer.  I've never tried that gel before but I'm excited to do so after this experience with the olive oil one.

It turns out that The Eco Styler gels may have a place in my regimen during the summertime at least to keep my hair under control. I like knowing that I won't have to baby my hair and constantly manipulate it.  Also it allows me not to worry about it doing crazy things during the day without warning lol.   (Ya'll my fro has been SERIOUSLY out of control for the past couple weeks!)

I know there are lighter formulas of Eco Styler and I will probably give those a try a little later.  Have a great day!!!

Day 1 Eco Olive Oil/Souffle Stretched Wash n Go

Day 2 Eco Olive Oil/ Souffle Stretched Wash n Go

Day 3 Eco Olive Oil/ Souffle Stretched Wash n Go
Excuse the lighting, it was getting late and I almost forgot to take pics!!!

Twist out with Curling Souffle and Fantasia Ic...

6/14/2013

After my two failed braidouts with Shea Moisture Curling Souffle and Curl enhancing Smoothie, it was suggested that I try adding some gel to the mix when using the souffle.  I had thought about trying this before my first attempt at the souffle becauase I knew there was a huge chance of major frizz, but I wanted to give the product a fair shot to see exactly how my hair responded to it.

Like always, I used olive oil, avocado butter...for my leave in I used, Shea Moisture curl and Shine Conditioner.   Next, I used the Curling Souffle and Fantasia Ic Hair polisher Styling Gel (clear).  Even though my hair held a lot better and was a litter stiffer, it was still puffing up from the humidity lol. This time, I was able to get a full day out of my twistout but Day 2, it completely reverted to my fro once again.  My fro wins again!!!

(Btw I have been cowashing alot lately trying to figure things out :)  I tried an old routine of olive oil, avocado butter, and tresemme naturals (no glycerin) only for a twistout and my hair held for a day and then poofed LOL!!!!!   SMH!!!!)  My fro is just actin' the fool!

The score:

Kriss: 0 pts
My fro: 4 pts

Summer plans :D

My summer plans are basically unknown lol!  I have no idea what I'm going to do with my hair this summer since it will be my first full summer rockin' my natural fro :D  So far, my hair has been reverting like crazy!  No matter what I've tried....the humidity just turn my fro into a poof.  So I'm froin' an goin more often than not lol.  And its all good!  As long as my fro is moisturized, it should still be able to thrive and reap the benefits of the humidity.

Since I've been playing around with Shea Moisture and still love the Coconut and Hibiscus line, I'm going to be trying different combos of the products I own along with them....even some of the ones I really don't like lol, to see if I can get a a little hold.  I want to try using what I have before venturing out.  (I'll be busting out the hug jar of Eco styler once again!  Who knows, it may combat some of the humidity since it's soo strong!)

This summer, I'm just going to enjoy my hair.  I'm pretty close to being 1 year natural and I've loved this journey!  Even though my recent hard work of twisting and braiding have gone up in "poofs"  and puffs, I'm going to try not to get frustrated and keep moving forward until I achieve the results I'm looking for :)

What are you'r

I'm not sure what to think right now!  I'm not sure if I should be happy or cry!!!  I was in the store the other day and noticed that Tresemme Naturals Nourishing Moisture with Aloe Vera and Avocado had new packaging... so I picked up the bottle of the conditioner my fro loves and noticed that there has been major changes to the formula, along with a new company!  (Thank The Lord there is no isopropyl alcohol in this formula!)  However, there are things in it like,  DMDM hydantoin that is a questionable ingredient...(This ingredient is also in some body washes, lotions, aloe vera gels, and even Vo5 :/ )

I haven't given this conditioner a try yet,  I will, but I'm not sure when lol. I really hope it works equal or better than the current one I have and love.  It was soo versatile to use!   We'll see!

I made it a whole week!!!

6/9/2013

I'm actually in disbelief right now!  It has been a week since I cowashed my hair and usually I
cowash at least 2 times a week because my scalp has always been pretty sensitive. I don't think I've made it a week since 2007 lol!!!)    I have been playing around with a couple Shea Moisture products (smoothie and souffle) over the past week and although my fro has had NO hold lol, my scalp has been able to hold on for a few extra days :)  I was just froin' and going since I had no hold!
I have to admit after day 4 and 5 I was like, "I think I should just wash my hair..."  but then I would

feel my fro and be like "Nah, it's fine....it feels awesome from the glycerin!"  It was sooo soft!!!
In the end, I'm going to listen to my hair.  If my scalp is getting that "I need to be washed right now or else"  feeling, I'm going to cowash it lol. My scalp has gotten very irritated in the past when I didn't do so.  But it was nice to be able to last for a week this time :)  Have a blessed day!

Dry Braidout Attempt (Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie)

6/6/2013

Why oh why must I attempt new things when I have to go somewhere? LOL Even though we were going to Gabriel's graduation ceremony,  I decided to try doing a dry braidout on my hair using the Curl Enhancing Smoothie since many ladies enjoy using it along with the Curling Souffle (which was still in my hair from the day before.)  I did the same technique on my hair except this time my hair wasn't soaking wet :)  I braided my hair in medium braids and twisted the last 2 inches or so. (I was mentally preparing myself to do another puff since the smoothie had glycerin in it too.)

Once again, as I removed the braids and the air got to my fro, it started to swell!  It was soo soft...but it once again had very little hold.  I knew immediately that it was not going to last an entire day before leaving the bathroom!   At the graduation ceremony, I was sooo concerned about it because I could tell it was swelling and shrinking lol.  I just wanted it to remain in control especially since I really wasn't in a position to be able to tweak it at the moment :D

Well, this dry braidout lasted about 6 1/2 hours before I put it up!  I don't think it looked bad, but I felt like my fro was behaving unpredictable so I chickened out and up it went at about 1:30 pm!
